India Dalai Lama

Turmoil continues as the Tibetan spiritual leader HH The Dalai Lama arrived in Orissa on Monday to inaugurate a newly-constructed Buddhist monastery in Gajapati district.

During his stay in the Tibetan settlement, The Dalai Lama will inaugurate a five-storey monastery named Padma Sambhav Mahavira and also attend several religious discourses.

At the same time, China jails a Tibetan filmmaker.  A Chinese court has jailed a Tibetan filmmaker for six years after he made a documentary critical of Beijing’s policies, friends and campaigners said today.

Dhongdup Wangchen and his friend Golog Jigme, a monk, were detained shortly after completing Leaving Fear Behind, which highlighted Tibetan anger with Chinese policies before the Olympics. The tapes had already been smuggled out of the country.

The films featured interviews with ordinary Tibetans who expressed their love for the Dalai Lama,leavingfearbehindgirl their exiled spiritual leader, and said the Olympics would do little to improve their lives. “The Chinese say they have made improvements in Tibet. But we don’t see any improvement at all,” Wangchen said in the documentary. “The truth is that Tibetans are not free to speak of their suffering.”

HOW YOU CAN HELP

PLEASE WRITE IMMEDIATELY in Mandarin or your own language, calling on the Chinese authorities to:

> release Dhondup Wangchen immediately and unconditionally, as he has been detained solely for his peaceful exercise of the right to freedom of expression;

> guarantee that while he remains in custody, he is not tortured or otherwise ill-treated, and has access to family, legal assistance of his choosing and any medical care he may require;

As Above So Below

The world is a reflection. As Above So Below. Conflict and anger on the world stage is mirrored by conflict and anger in our personal lives.

How can we begin to Make Peace in the World? How can we begin to Make Peace in our own lives?

Daily Mindfulness is a good place to start.

I attended the Public Talk that His Holiness The Dalai Lama gave in Melbourne on Thursday 10th December 2009.

His Holiness shares many stories that tell the importance of having a still and peaceful state of mind. When the mind is still and we open our hearts to compassion and understanding, how can there be conflict.

The battle in our minds is reflected as the battle in our lives.

Start with our own stillness of mind and bring peace to our own personal world.

Or Get Involved with a group that is committed to Compassion and Peace in the World.

Find people you can spend time with to help calm your mind and help bring you peace of mind and reach the goals you strive for. Change Your Mind. Change Your Friends. It’s vitally important.

I am grateful for the opportunity to meet HH The Dalai Lama. I love meeting new people that share my vision to help others be the best they can be and Reach for the Stars. Here I thank my new very special friend Kate Brighton…

Compassion and tolerance are not a sign of weakness, but a sign of strength.
